In Brisbane’s Kangaroo Point, a man in his thirties was rescued from a stormwater drain after being trapped for approximately 36 hours. The incident, which led to an investigation by Queensland police, occurred when the man attempted to retrieve his fallen phone from the drain. Acting Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski highlighted the unexpected nature of the event and invited witnesses to provide information. The rescue operation was conducted by firefighters who opened the drain lid to free the man. He was subsequently taken to Mater hospital for treatment of minor injuries and exposure. The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service played a crucial role in ensuring the man’s safe recovery from the situation.
