The UK Met Office dispels ‘super storm’ rumors with a forecast of standard spring weather, while Australia anticipates a cold front bringing cooler temperatures and potential snowfall in some regions.
The UK is set to experience standard spring weather this week, according to the Met Office, dispelling rumors of an impending “super storm.” Forecasts predict a combination of sunshine, showers, and gusty winds across the country, with temperatures reaching the mid-to-low teens Celsius in southern regions. Despite anxiety over a 400-mile wide storm purportedly moving from the US, Met Office spokesperson Stephen Dixon confirmed there is no such powerful storm heading towards the UK. The weather for the upcoming days includes varied conditions, with windier weather expected from Wednesday and a mix of sun and potential heavy, thundery showers over the weekend.
Meanwhile, in Australia, parts of New South Wales (NSW) are preparing for a significant drop in temperatures as a cold front that affected South Australia, Victoria, and Tasmania extends into the region. The Bureau of Meteorology noted a 10-15°C decrease in temperatures across the southern states as a result of the front, with Melbourne experiencing a notable drop from 28°C to below 18°C. The cold front is bringing cooler conditions, showers, and even snowfall in certain parts of Tasmania and Victoria. Sydney is anticipated to reach a maximum of 27°C before experiencing a temperature decline, accompanied by strong gusts and large swells along the coast. Although cooler temperatures and some rainfall are expected, the bureau forecasts a return to warmer weather towards the end of March and into April, with no record low temperatures anticipated but below-average temperatures for this time of year in some areas.
